Hensel Phelps has landed another project with Tampa International Airport (TIA). The $37 Million Checked Baggage System Upgrades and Optimization project was awarded to Hensel Phelps on April 5th, 2018 by the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority Board of Directors. The project will provide the Tampa International Airport with the necessary Baggage Handling System (BHS) modifications to better serve the airport, airlines and passenger needs. The project involves the relocation of the screening functions, currently housed within the Main Landside Terminal of the airport, to Airside C and the A-Sortation building for screening and the ultimate delivery of bags. Additionally, the project will include the installation of a new BHS conveyor at the new Rental Car Center. This project is scheduled for completion in June 2020.
